Reports indicate that about ten students from Lawra Senior High School in the Upper West Region have drowned in the Dikpe River in Lawra.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning, June 14, 2025, during their routine jogging where a group of students decided to use a canoe to cross to the other side of the river.

In the process, the canoe capsized.

So far, three students are feared dead, while three others managed to escape unharmed.

Search efforts are still ongoing for the remaining four students.

Representatives from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Police are yet to provide a statement regarding the next steps.
