Some Commonwealth Hall students at the University of Ghana have clashed with the police at the forecourt of the Hall for trying to access the facility Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The introduction of the In-out-out-out policy by the University’s management which has created accommodation crisis according to the aggrieved students must be tackled with the urgency it deserves.

The former residents of the hall are protesting to register their displeasure over what they see as management’s silence on the accommodation crisis.

Following an injunction placed on the policy by the court, the former residents of the Hall cannot fathom why the management is insisting on it.

On January 6, 2023, the aggrieved students secured an interim injunction against the implementation of the new policy revoking the residential status of continuing students of both Mensah Sarbah and Commonwealth Halls.

With the affected students remained sacked from the Hall, they claim management’s reluctance to comply with the court’s injunction is contemptuous.

Their attempt to enter the Hall led to a rife between the students and the police who were preventing them from entering.

Some of the students say the rates being charged by private hostels are too exorbitant for them to afford.
