Ghana’s sensational high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah has won the country’s first Gold medal at the ongoing African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon.

A jump of 1.87m at the Stade de la Reunification ensured that the 2023 African Games winner retained the title she won in Mauritius two years ago.

The former University of Cape Coast (UCC) student has a national record of 1.97m and has already booked a place at the Paris Olympic Games.

Guinea’s Fatoumatou Balley won Silver while Nigeria’s Adenisa Temitope won Bronze.

The Gold medal comes after a disappointing final for Ghana in the women’s 100m final on Saturday.

There is, however, a lot to expect as the relay teams both made it to the finals, scheduled for Monday, June 24.
