Despite having most of the opinion polls going in their favour, John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has cautioned members of the party be wary of complacency ahead of the December polls.
He says although all the credible opinion polls that have come, together with the places he has visited, show the NDC is winning the elections, they all have to be vigilant to protect the votes until the last ballot is counted.
John Mahama, speaking to residents of Gbintri of the Gambaga Nalerigu constituency as part of his campaign to the North East region Wednesday, October 02, 2024, said the party will not leave any stone unturned come December.
“All the regions I have been to, have given us the assurance that they are going change the government on 7th December, 2024 and bring the NDC back to come and continue the good work we were doing when we had the reigns of government.
“But of course we must not be complacent. We must protect every single person’s vote. And that’s why I say in this election, all of us are going to be polling agents.
“We are not going to select just two polling agents to go and sit there and all of us will go home and sleep. We’ll stay there until every vote is counted and the results declared,” he stated.
Meanwhile, John Mahama accused the ruling party of forging surveys to appease their supporters after learning that the credible opinion polls have all tilted in the NDC’s favour.
“All the credible opinion polls have predicted that NDC is going to win. And so because of that the NPP and government have started publishing fake opinion polls,” he stated.
He urged Ghanaians to ignore the polls saying they are not credible.
“Opinion polls that have no methodology, Opinion polls where you cannot find the people who did the research. And so, ignore all those fake opinion polls. Everything indicates and every credible institution; Economic intelligence Unit, Fitch Solutions, Global InfoAnalytics and every proper, credible opinion polls shows that NDC is going to win the election,” he stated.
