Authorities have settled on Friday, September 12 as start date for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

This was made known on Tuesday after a decision was taken to start the domestic season on Tuesday, July 1.

By the decision of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at a meeting held on Monday, June 9, the 2025/26 GPL will end on May 23 and 24 next year.

All matches in the top-flight are expected to be played on Sundays with midweek dates reserved for outstanding fixtures.

The clubs to compete in the 2025/26 league are champions Bibiani Goldstars SC, Nations FC, Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC, FC Samartex 1996, Dreams FC, Vision FC, Bechem United, Karela United FC, Aduana FC, Basake Holy Stars, Young Apostles, and Berekum Chelsea.

The three newly-promoted clubs to join the elite league are Techiman XI Wonders, Swedru All Blacks and Hohoe United.

Before the season opens, Asante Kotoko, who have won the MTN FA Cup, will play winners of the 2024/25 League Bibiani Goldstars SC in a Champion of Champions clash on Sunday, August 31.

Meanwhile, the 2025/26 Division One League will start on Friday, September 26 and scheduled to end on Saturday, May 11, 2026.
