Second-half heroics by Kumasi Asante Kotoko gave them a 2-1 comeback win over Hearts of Oak in the 2025 President’s Cup on Sunday.
The Phobians took the lead in the first half after a blunder by the Asante Kotoko goalkeeper.
Hamza Issah was well-positioned as he slotted the ball in to punish Mohammed Camara in post for the Porcupine Warriors.
However, coach Abdul-Karim Zito’s half-time talks appeared to have impacted his players as they fought hard to score two quick goals to win the game.
The first was started by left-back Peter Amidu in the 52nd minute as his cross was headed by substitute Konadu Yiadom into his own net.
Pressure from striker Kwame Poku a couple of minutes later paid off as he also scored from a through pass from Albert Amoah to give the Porcupine Warriors the winner.
A penalty awarded the Phobians for an opportunity to restore parity was missed by Emmanuel Amankwah as Camara composed himself to save the kick.
It was too little to late as Asante Kotoko clinched their ninth title.
They add this to the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup trophy won at the expense of Golden Kick SC.
