Ghanaian musician, Emmanuel Kwadwo Oware popularly known as Ayisi has expressed confidence in bagging all three nominations at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
The artiste has been nominated in three categories – Songwriter of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance and Record of the Year for this year’s awards.
In an interview with AJ Sarpong on 3Lounge, Ayisi while being optimistic noted that it’s been long overdue and deceives the award this year.
“On a scale of 1-10, I would say 10. No humility, no nothing. Give it to me…I think that it’s about time,” he said.
The musician is facing fierce competition from Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, Olive The Boy and Team Eternity Ghana in the songwriter category.
“Kofi Kinaata would give me a bit of challenge because he is a very good writer,” he noted.
For the Record of the Year category, other contenders are; Okyena Asem from Berima Amo ft. Pat Thomas, Kofi Kinaata with Auntie Ama, Fallen Angle by Small God ft. Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke with Holy Ghost and Kwabena Kwabena ft. Obaapa Christy with Fakye Me.
“Do I feel like I deserve it? Yes, yes and yes. This should speak to the band, just to be nominated even I think we deserve it,” he recalled the extensive work which went into recording Can I Live, the song which received nomination for all three categories.
MOG Music, Joe Mettle, Kofi Nuel and Emmanuel Juddah are also contending with Ayisi in he Best Male Vocal Performance.
