Some persons believed to be land guards have invaded the Bawjiase chief’s palace ahead of the outdooring of the Bawjiase chief, Nai Kwaku Osardu III, and allegedly killed one person.
The Gyaasehene of Awutu Bawjiase, Nai Korabi Opeikuma IV in an interview with Onua News indicated that the community has been battling some chieftaincy issue for over 25 years until the matter was recently settled by the National House of Chiefs.
Ahead of preparations towards outdooring the chief to the community, some persons believed to be land guards, according to the Gyaasehene, was brought in by the opposition faction.
He explained that whilst preparations were ongoing, one of the leaders from the opposition lined up his entourage on a motorbike to storm the community, where two of the alleged land guards killed one of the men in the community.
“We want for a judgement from the National House of Chiefs on 23rd May and it went in favour of Akyaako Twidan. Nana Osardu III had already been installed but he was supposed to be unveiled to the community so we planed doing that today.
“We had made some arrangements when we heard in the evening that this has happened. But prior to that I had an intel that our brethren in opposition –Ayiki, Moses and Abusuapanyin Kofi Larbi had gone for land guards into the storey building and that is what they usually do.
“But my intelligence also told me they had come to install Asafoatse. We informed the District Police command who dispatched some people here but nothing had happened at the time they came here. Then Abusuapanyin Kofi Mathias, with his entourage with 50 motorbikes carrying two people each.
“So, whilst they followed him, the land guards were at Nana Osadu III’s house and two of them, unprovoked, called Bebee and the other Noah, attacked one particular guy. They first shot him and butchered him. They had already assaulted some of the Asafo men,” he detailed to Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare.
