The National Identification Authority (NIA) has temporary suspended its nationwide strike effective today, Monday, June 30, 2025.

This follows an “extensive engagements with the National Labour Commission (NLC), the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and the leadership of the mother Union.”

The NIA embarked on strike last week following what it described as its withheld allowances which the government failed to pay despite several engagements.

A statement issued by the NIA’s Divisional Executive Council of the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) on Sunday, June 29, 2025, assured “all staff that their legitimate concerns remain a priority and will continue to receive the urgent attention they deserve.”

The Authority has asked the public to access its services at all of its offices across the country effective today.

“Accordingly, all NIA offices and registration centres across the country will resume full operations on Monday, 30th June 2025. The general public is encouraged to visit any of our offices to access our services,” the statement said in some parts.

“Management deeply regrets any inconvenience the strike action may have caused and thanks the public for their patience and understanding during this period,” it added.
