The Krontihene of Anum traditional area, Nana Owusu Ntow IV, has apologised to the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, for calling for his head during the 2020 elections.
The chief says he personally led a campaign for his people to reject John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress, an act he has since regretted.
According to him, the rejection of the traditional area with their poor roads still staring at them eight years after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over the realm of leadership has taught them a a great lesson.
Addressing the former President in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the Krontihene of Anum traditional area said that message he propagated on radio in 2020 for his people to reject John Mahama is something he wish had never happened.
“I once called out John Mahama’s bad leadership on a radio station and said we the people of Anum will not be part of any means to bring him back to power. Your Excellency, forgive me my sins,” he confessed.
Nana Ntow IV continued that, the government should let them be in the know if their dilapidated roads are not going to be constructed.
The chief said “we are not asking for anything. If this government cannot construct the road, they should tell us. We would have constructed it to the glory of our Omanhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto, if we could do it on our own.”
TV3’s Komla Klutse reports in the words of the traditional authorities that the roads from Asikuma Anum junction to Anum and Boso township only saw construction since the Kutu Acheampong regime which has affected livelihood in the area.
On his part, the presidential candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress said he has never in his life, seen a president as adamant as Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has refused to heed to the calls of the many Ghanaians who calling for a reshuffle in his appointees.
“If the President was a listening leader, he would have heeded to the calls of almost all Ghanaians asking him to reshuffle his government. Because he has refused to reshuffle the ministers, they are all dormant and not active,” John Mahama noted.
