The Ghana Meteorological Agency has forecast that a rainstorm will hit the southern parts of the country.

It said the rainstorm is originating from Nigeria and heading westwards towards Togo and Ghana.

“A rainstorm observed over Nigeria is propagating westwards and expected to drift into Ghana, producing thunderstorms or rain of varying intensities over the coast and few in land areas from morning into afternoon hours,” the Meteo agency wrote in a weather warning issued on May 22, 2024.

“The rest of the country will be dominated by partly cloudy conditions. As the day progresses, variably cloudy weather is anticipated for the southern half of the country while the northern half remains sunny. However, parts of the middle, transition and northern sectors will experience isolated thunderstorms or rain from late afternoon into the evening,” it added.

In an update, the Meteo agency said, “A moderate to heavy rainstorm observed over southern Togo is expected to drift to the west to affect areas in southern Ghana. The storm is anticipated to affect the southeast this morning and move to the southwest later today. A separate rainstorm over Burkina Faso is expected to cast cloudiness over parts of the upper west with rain of varying intensity.”
