Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the Presidential Advisor on Health, has justified the huge sums of monies pumped into the health sector by the government.

Despite the millions of dollars sunk into Ghana’s health sector with a poor healthcare delivery, especially in the public sector, Dr. Nsiah Asare says any amount of money spent by the government at the sector should not be regarded as a waste.

According to him, “wealth is health is health is wealth because you can create wealth out of health”, deeming the resources channeled into the sector as worth its sort.

Speaking on Hot Issues with Keminni Amanor on TV3 Sunday, June 09, 2024, Dr. Nsiah Asare held the view that it would be inappropriate for one to think resources put into healthcare delivery is a waste instead of an investment.

“Any amount of money which is pumped into health is not a waste but an investment. So we should not take health as an expenditure but rather as an investment. Because we invest in people’s health from the womb right up to the time that we go back to the grave,” he stated.

He also added that the government’s Agenda 111 is on course with many of them nearing completion.

He has projected that some of the projects should be expected to commission by the end of the third quarter of 2024.

Although the projection contrasts his earlier date of the end of the second quarter, Dr. Nsiah Asare says the changes became necessary due to some challenges the project encountered along the way.
