In the Wassa-Amenfi East district of the Western Region, the exhumation of corpses at a village called Wassa Grumisa has become the recent development.
This, has forced the traditional authority to invoke curses on perpetrators of such acts, calling on the gods of the land to deal with them.
The situation has sparked fear and panic amongst the residents, amid significant distress being experienced by indigenes.
Reports indicate 10 graves have been desecrated in the past two weeks by persons believed to be residents of the Grumisa community.
It is reported that the leadership of the community has communicated to the residents for perpetrators of the act to desist from it but to no avail.
The traditional authority, owing to the recalcitrance of the perpetrators, has resorted to invoking the powers of the gods of the land to deal with the miscreants to retribute for the souls of deceased whose tombs have been desecrated.
This is the first time such incident is being recorded in the community according to traditional authority, reemphasising on the need for the gods intervention.
Describing the situation as embarrassing and deeply troubling, the elders asked the gods to identify and punish those responsible.
Their demand was not for the death of the perpetrators but rather for them to suffer and fail in whatever they intend to use the bodies for.
