England manager Gareth Southgate has resigned a couple of days after failing to win Euro 2024.
The Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain in Berlin on Sunday in the final.
Southgate, 53, says it was an honour to manage England for eight years.
“As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England,” he said.
“It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all.
“But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter.”
After his coaching sting with his former club Middlesbrough, Southgate was given charge of the England U-21 team.
After three years of managing the team, he was handed the senior team in 2016.
He managed England at four major tournaments, also reaching the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and quarter-finals in 2022.
Southgate is the only manager bar 1966 World Cup winner Sir Alf Ramsey to lead the England men’s team into a major tournament final.
