The grand durbar of the 87th Ada Asafotufiami –the firing of musket festival 2024 — has started on the Presbyterian School park at Ada in the Greater Accra Region.
The paramount chief of the Ada Traditional Area and President of the Ada Traditional Council, Jetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III, seated in his elegance, surrounded by his chiefs, is receiving an renewed oath of loyalty from the respective clans.
Being organised under the theme: Upholding the discipline of our forebears as a tool for the sustainable development and unity of Ada, the grand durbar was chaired by the President of the National House of Chiefs and paramount chief of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area.
The durbar also has the presence of the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as Guest of Honour, with President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo being expected to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour.
Oboade Notse Odaifio Welentsi III, Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area and Vice President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, is also present as well as other prominent chiefs from across the country.
The Ada people arrived and have lived in their present location for 198 years ago after settling in 1896.
