John Dramani Mahama noted that the attitude of Ghanaians need a reset. This is part of his messaging about reset the country which he says encompasses every aspect of the State.
It is only when Ghanaians reset their attitude, according to John Mahama, that his ‘Building the Ghana we want’ campaign will be possible.
He explains many have assumed that his message of resetting Ghana is only focused on the economy. However, he explains that resetting the country transcends beyond the economy, adding that governance is also a component of the State that requires a reset, including the attitude of the people.
At the NDC’s professional forum Monday, August 26, 2024, John Mahama called for the support of the entire citizenry to put Ghana at the position it belongs by having an attitudinal reset.
“And when we talk about resetting we are not only talking about the economy and that’s why at the Manifesto [launch] I didn’t only talk about the economy, I talked about Ghana needs a reset, our economy needs a reset, our governance needs a reset, our attitude needs a reset.
“People didn’t notice I added attitude. You don’t upgrade attitudes, you reset attitudes and correct them. You don’t upgrade governance, you reset governance because governance has gone astray and so we reset this country and we can only do that with all of you,” he stated.
John Mahama’s comments were in response to a statement made by the Vice President during his engagement with the media after his campaign launch.
At the encounter Sunday, August 25, 2024, Dr. Bawumia indicated that what Ghana’s economy needs at the moment is an upgrade and not a reset.
This was an apparent reference to a statement John Mahama has been making as part of his campaign message.
According to Mahama, Ghana’s economy has not been in the best of shapes, a situation that the government acknowledges. It is for this reason that he has been calling for a reset.
However, Dr. Bawumia, who is also the flag bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says “what this country needs is an upgrade, not reset. And if given the mandate, I will roll out the measures outlined in our recently launched manifesto to revamp the economy.”
“Sometimes I get amazed when former President Mahama talks about economic mismanagement. He should know his own record,” he added.
