The Electoral Commission (EC) says the presidential results for the 2024 elections will be announced at Regional Collation Centres before the national declaration at its headquarters.

According to Deputy Chairperson of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the move will help deepen transparency.

He indicated that all political parties have agreed to this new format. As a result, their agents will be present at the polling stations and collation centres to participate in the process.

“For every constituency, there will be someone assisting with the collation process, and the same applies at the regional level. Under CI 127, regional collation is part of the structure for presidential elections.”

“After results are compiled at polling stations, they will be sent to constituency collation centres, and from there, forwarded to the regional collation centres. At each regional centre, we will announce the presidential results,” he said on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

Dr. Bossman Asare was speaking at the launch of the Election Day Observation and Post-Election Action Plan by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) on October 17.

With this move, voters can track the results region by region. The EC is confident of another successful, transparent and inclusive election.

CODEO will deploy 4,000 polling station observers across the country for the 2024 elections. Election observation across the world has become another way to test the credibility and transparency of elections.

Members of the diplomatic community commended CODEO for its consistency in Ghana’s elections.
