Ghana’s Black Sharks are out of the ongoing Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a 5-2 loss to Morocco in their second group game on Monday.

Ghana’s exit was confirmed after Egypt’s 9-3 thrashing of Tanzania later.

Monday’s results in Group A send the two North Africans through to the semi-finals, awaiting the qualifiers from Group B, which comprises Mauritania, Senegal, Mozambique and Malawi.

The Black Sharks, making a return to the tournament after eight years, lost their opening game to hosts Egypt by 6-3.

That match on Saturday at the Albatross Stadium in Hurghada saw the Ghanaians fall to petty mistakes though Alexander Adjetey scored a hattrick.

Hopes of qualifying to the semi-finals were dashed on Monday as Morocco thrashed the West Africans to book their place.

Ghana are scheduled to take on Tanzania on Tuesday but that match will be a dead rubber as the two are already out of the competition.

The winners of the ongoing tournament will be joined by the losing finalists as Africa’s representatives for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to be held in Seychelles.
