Ghana’s U-20 national team Black Satellites are through to the semi-final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championships despite being held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Togo.

Leading 1-0 at half time in the final Group A game at the Stade Municipal in Lome, the Ghanaians allowed their neighbours into the game in the second half as they cancelled the first goal.

That equaliser, however, was not enough for the hosts as it gave them only a point, their third in the tournament.

Undefeated so far, Ghana topped the group with Wednesday’s point – 5 points in all.

Niger, who beat Benin in the other group game played concurrently, placed second in the group to join the Satellites into the knock-out round.

This left Togo and Benin crashing out of the qualifying tournament.

Ghana are a win away from securing a spot at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Their next opponents will be known after the Cote d’Ivoire-Nigeria encounter on Thursday.
