National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, has asked Ghanaians to be vigilant like the serpent to avoid the deceit of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) going into the December elections.
He says the economic hardship Ghanaians have been subjected to by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration is nothing compared to what the country has been through over the years.
Despite getting resources more than any other government since independence, Sammy Gyamfi says the government has failed to better the lives of Ghanaians but rather make life difficult for people.
Speaking with residents of Dadiesoaba in the Ahafo region Wednesday, November 06, 2024, he said the debt incurred by Mahama to do the numerous projects he did is non-comparable to the sum gotten by President Akufo-Addo which he has nothing to show for.
With Ghana’s debt stock seeing over 300% increase under Akufo-Addo in just 8 years compared to all the other governments put together from Nkrumah, Sammy Gyamfi says it is only deceit that will make people vote for the NPP again, something he says Ghanaians should avoid.
“Ghana has seen difficult times before but this particular one is over all. We need to be vigilant like the serpent because they have brought the deceit again. Nana Addo and Bawumia never came to help Ghana.
“They have gotten money than any other government in this country’s history. When Mahama was leaving office, Ghana’s debt was 127 billion cedis including the ones incurred by Nkrumah, Rawlings, Atta Mills, Kufuor, Liman and all the President’s we’ve had with Mahama borrowing GHC54 billion.
“And that was what he used to build all the infrastructural projects. The NPP was insulting him whilst undertaking all those projects. Today, our debt stock is GHC761 billion,” he pointed out.
