Stars of Lakeside emerged champions in the maiden edition of the Kozie’s Champions League held at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf.

The dominant side defeated Mambas FC 1-0 in the final to clinch the ultimate trophy, medals, a set of jerseys and a cash prize of GH¢10,000.

Mambas FC received GH¢7,000 with medals and a set of jerseys.

Kozie XI came third and took home GH¢5,000 after defeating Zion FC 1-0 in the third place playoff. Zion FC were rewarded GH¢3,000

The Fair Play team took home GH¢2,000 with best goalkeeper, best player and top scorer taking home GH¢1,000 each.

The Kozie Cares Champions League powered and inspired by Mrs Akosua Asaa Manu, the Adentan Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), through her vision of using football as a tool to promote peace ahead of the 2024 December General Elections

The tournament, which revealed some of the most talented football players in the Adentan Constituency, was graced by Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, a 2009 U-20 World Cup winner and an ex-Black Stars midfielder.

“I want to commend Akosua Manu for this tournament. It’s not easy to organise these events but she has done so with 96 teams. She has done so well and I will always avail myself for anyone who is willing to put together such events,” Badu said.

Ninety-six teams from 96 electoral areas started in the preliminary rounds before Saturday, November 16, 2024 hosted the round of 16 matches to settle on 8 nations for the quarterfinals.

The final day of the competition started with the quarter-finals through to the final.

Mrs. Akosua Asaa Manu, affectionately known as Kozie, delivered a special message, focusing on empowering the youth, fostering unity, and ensuring peaceful coexistence during the upcoming polls.

“My social contract with you will remain intact. Just as I have been empowering the youth through my various initiatives such as health screenings, infrastructure development, IT training and other programmes, I pledge to do more for you when I am voted in as the Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency,” Akosua Manu addressed her constituents.

Adding to the excitement, Shatta Wale, the iconic musician and CEO of the Shatta Movement Family, mounted the stage to entertain fans and energize the atmosphere after the final match to end the event on a reflective and positive note.

The Kozie Cares Champions League served as a platform to unite the community through sports while reinforcing the message of peace, collaboration, and mutual respect as the elections approach.
