President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo could not capitalise on the goodwill accorded him by Ghanaians to better their lives after being given the opportunity, Franklin Cudjoe, founder and President of IMANI Africa, has stated.

The founder of one of the biggest policy think tanks on the continent asserts many Ghanaians trusted in Akufo-Addo to take them out of the challenges the nation was facing in 2016.

However, after voting for him overwhelmingly to attain power, Franklin Cudjoe says President Akufo-Addo could not perform to the satisfaction of Ghanaians, leaving the nation in huge debts to warrant a haircut which has destroyed the livelihood of many Ghanaians.

In a post shared on his Facebook Monday, November 25, 2024, Mr. Cudjoe recounted an encounter with President Akufo-Addo 7 years ago where the President touted his works as leader of one of the leading think tanks in the country.

The IMANI boss, based on what President Akufo-Addo said about him at the gathering, said Ghanaians should not brood over his criticism of this administration considering the faith that was reposed in him by the citizenry for which they surrendered their sovereignty to him.

“Certainly it is a good feeling to be described by the number one gentleman of the land as Nana Addo did. This is why all of you should not be worried about me taking him and his government on for wasting the enormous good will and faith many Ghanaians had in him to make things better,” he stated.

Franklin Cudjoe went on to say that he will be having a conversation with the President to find out what went wrong, and if he has any lessons to share with other leaders to take a cue from.

“I will definitely be having a frank conversation with him about what went wrong and if he has any regrets and advice for young and old leaders,” he added.
