Olympic 200m winner Letsile Tebogo was on Sunday adjudged Men’s World Athlete of the Year with Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands being named Women’s World Athlete of the Year.

This followed the naming of the Bostwana track star as the Men’s Track Athlete of the Year and Hassan as the Women’s Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year at an event held in Monaco.

The ultimate winners were selected by votes from fans.

Tebogo beat competition from Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen to win the Track Athlete of the Year.

His exploits in the past year has seen him dip under 20 seconds the 200m nine times.

He capped a successful year with the Olympic title and was in the final of the shorter 100m distance, won by American Noah Lyles.

He ran an African record of 19.46s to win the 200m and anchored Botswana’s 4x400m team to Silver at the Paris Games.
