Renowned Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has advised young artistes to consider embracing Highlife, a genre he believes holds the key to creating hit songs.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kwabena Kwabena expressed disappointment that many young musicians overlook Highlife in favor of other genres, despite its strong influence on today’s top hits.
“Highlife is thriving, and if you want hits, stick to the genre. Some may think it’s old-school, but many of Ghana’s biggest hits—such as Fameye’s Very Soon, King Paluta’s Makoma, KiDi’s Lomo Lomo, and Stonebwoy’s Jejereje—are deeply rooted in Highlife,” he explained.
Reflecting on his 20-year music career, the Aso hitmaker expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support over the years.

“I am humbled, honestly. I owe a debt of gratitude to the Almighty God and to my fans worldwide for their support,” he said.
Kwabena Kwabena added that his greatest achievement is maintaining relevance throughout his career.
“Being in the industry for close to two decades is my biggest reward. Next year marks 20 years and staying relevant all this time is the greatest gift God has given me,” he concluded.
