Global InfoAnalytics has concluded in its surveys on the 2024 general elections that many lawmakers on the ticket of the NPP will lose their seats not because they did not perform well.

Executive Director of the survey firm, Mussa Dankwa, has disclosed that although some of these Members of Parliament may have performed creditably in their constituencies, the performance of the government will affect their chances of reelection.

He explains the national issues have taken over local issues in the respective constituencies making legislators on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) unpopular.

Mussa Dankwah was speaking on Ghana Decides 2024 on TV3 Friday, December 06, 2024 when he made the remarks.

He disclosed that most of the respondents who said they will not vote for their MPs as a result of the government’s performance are from the three swing regions.

“This parliamentary election is going to be based not just on local issues but also national issues. The national issues have overshadowed the local issues so you can see MPs being punished for not their own sins but the sins of the government and that’s what we are seeing in Greater Accra, Western and Central regions,” he stated.

In a related development, he stated that the last-minute projects commissioned by the government will also not impact the voting pattern.

He revealed that only 20% out of the respondents they contacted earlier said their votes would be based on such projects. However, these persons are supporters of the party in government, with the remaining 80% saying the projects will not affect how they will vote.

“I wish they have learnt lessons but they don’t as we have realised. We saw what NDC did in 2016, it’s the same thing NPP is doing right now. And indeed we asked the voters sometime early this year that if government embarks on projects very late in their term, will that influence your vote for that government? Overwhelmingly no, 80%.

“So, if they had any lesson to learn, they would have learnt from that polling data. Only 20% said they would vote for you because you have done something the last year and those people are mainly your party supporters,” he disclosed.
