Mavis Hawa Koomson has debunked claims that she dispatched some military officers at a hotel in the Ga South constituency in Greater Accra to thumb print ballots for her.

On Friday night, December 06, 2024, videos were rife on social media regarding some military officers occupying a certain hotel in the Ga South constituency who were allegedly thumb printing some ballots.

It was earlier alleged that the officers were sent there by the Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

After casting her ballot at the Roman Centre at Kpormetey in the Awutu Senya East constituency, the three-term MP who is seeking a fourth term noted that it is her opponent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who dragged her name into the issue despite the said development occurring outside the Awutu Senya East enclave.

In an exclusive interview with Onua TV/FM’s Akua Sarpomaa after voting, Hawa Koomson said the allegations were meant to tarnish her image by her opponent.

“That tells you the type of person I’m contesting. Something happen in Ga South and you drag me in. She always wants to drag me into things. I contested with men in 2012 and 2016 and nobody heard of me but all of a sudden, this woman comes and I’m everywhere.

“If you touch a mad man, he will react. It is same as a sick person. 2020 I decided not to mind her but today I’ve decided to mind her. If you don’t offend me, you won’t know that I’m a wild person,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Ga South Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Nyarni Stephen, has confirmed that the officers were sent to the hotel by the Ga South municipal authorities.
