The Electoral Commission (EC) has said this year’s voter turnout has been impressive.

The Commission at a press briefing after polls were closed on Saturday, December 7 said each voter spent less than three minutes to cast his or her ballot.

He noted that this year’s election has been “peaceful”. Addressing the media after polls were closed, Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Benjamin Bano-Bioh explained that this was due to the Commission’s strategy to ensure a smooth process of the election.

He noted that party agents have also been cooperative throughout the electoral process.

“Our staff we appreciate them for the show of high level of professionalism,” he said.

“Our BVD’s performed effectively. Processing time for voters was reduced drastically, voter spent less than three minutes.

“The reports reaching us is that voter turnout has been massive. The election has been seamless devoid of the usual chaos that characterised previous elections.”

Benjamin Bano-Bioh urged the media to be circumspect in announcing the results with verification from the EC and ensure their projections tally with the results of the EC.
