Edward Michael Ennin, a former Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, has called for an overhaul in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He says the leadership of the party must be completely changed, with the exception of the General Secretary, Justin Nana Kodua Frimpong.
His call comes after the party’s abysmal performance in the just ended elections winning just about one-third of the seats in Parliament, with the presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, doing a little over 40% with some few results yet to be confirmed.
According to him, both the party leadership and the government’s terrible performance contributed to the party’s massive failure in the polls which it was confident of winning.
Mr. Ennin, speaking on TV3’s Election Coverage Monday, December 09, 2024, also called for the return of some aggrieved members who left the party.
“Apart from the General Secretary, Justin Kodua, all executives of the party must go,” he stated.
“Alan should come back. The party needs an overhaul. We need to rebuild the party. [Boakye] Agyarko must come back and all the others,” he added.
