Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for the Effutu has acknowledged the disappointment of members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2024 general elections.
Speaking directly to NPP supporters on 3FM Sunrise, the Majority Leader encouraged them to remain hopeful.
He congratulated the NDC on its victory and asked members of the party not to be too excited since they will face the fate of the NPP in future.
“I congratulate the NDC for their wins but I must say the time has come for the NPP to come together. Don’t be too excited about our fall now, because you will face the same thing,” Afenyo-Markin stated.
He appealed to supporters of the party to expunge the blame games and focus on mending their shortfalls to return stronger in the subsequent elections.
According to him, “fighting and calling each other names after our defeat will not solve the challenges the party is faced with.”
The Effutu Parliamentarian pledged the NPP’s support for a seamless transition to the new government and assured Ghanaians that the party would adopt a constructive approach as the opposition.
“We will give the NDC our full support to form their government and assume power but we will hold them accountable on their promises to the good people of Ghana,” the Effutu lawmaker indicated.
