The Black Maidens have become the maiden winners of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls’ Cup following a win over their Nigerian counterparts, the Flamingos, in the final on Sunday.
Played at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the final saw the two sides settle for a 2-2 draw in full regulation time.
Gertrude Amoafo broke the deadlock for the hosts after just 14 minutes of play.

The Black Maidens doubled the lead five minutes later through Priscilla Mensah.
The Nigerians, however, ensured that they halved this deficit before the break.
With just 12 minutes to end proceedings, the Flamingos pulled the all-important equalizer, sending the game straight to spot kicks.
They, however, missed their third kick as the Maidens converted all to end 5-4.
The result is a major triumph for the Ghanaian girls after suffering a two-year ban by FIFA.
