The Black Galaxies were on Sunday held to a 0-0 draw by their Nigerian counterparts in the first leg of the qualifiers for the 2024 Championship of African Nations.

Coach Mas-Ud Didi Draman paraded a strong squad at the Accra Sports Stadium to face their archrivals.

However, the visitors held their own throughout the 90 minutes.

In his post-match press conference, Coach Draman said his charges controlled the greater part of the game but were unlucky not to have scored nor conceded.

“I think it was a very tight game and we controlled greater part of the game and I will say we were lucky not to have conceded because in such games you can easily concede.”

He described the results as “positive” since it was a goalless draw.

The second leg will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

The winner of the two legs will book a ticket to the tournament, which is scheduled for Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in February, 2025.
