The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has described as “propaganda”, claim by the NPP that it has won the Dome Kwabenya seat.
Dr. Tanko-Computer says results available to the NDC currently shows it is leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with over 2,000 votes, making the claims false.
His comments follow a statement made by the Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako, that the NPP is aware it has won the Dome Kwabenya seat which is still in contention with results of three polling stations not added so far.
Speaking on Ghana Tonight on TV3 Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Dr. Tanko-Computer noted that the NDC does not have pink sheets for the three remaining polling stations. However, the NPP has two of them, with the remaining one agreed by all parties to be rejected at the IPAC meeting held on Tuesday, December 24.
He explains that the Returning Officer for the said polling station, instead of using the approved document to fill the results for the agents to get the carbon copies, rather used the specimen that was used to train the party agents.
He said if the remaining three constituencies were added, the NDC will widen the gap between them and the NPP. But because the NDC do not have the two other polling stations, with the EC also messing up the other with a specimen instead of the original, they are leading the NPP with over 2,000 votes, making Mr. Nimako’s claims a mere propaganda.
“Clearly my good friend was economical with the truth. If you look at Dome Kwabenya, it’s very clear. It’s left with three polling stations and we were leading with over 2000 votes. I’m happy he admitted. They don’t have pink sheets for that. The three polling stations. Interestingly we have. We were able to get two out of the three.
“The third one is not our making. It is the making of the Presiding Officer. He didn’t use the original pink sheet that was supposed to be used to fill the results. He rather used a specimen one. The one that we used for training. So the commissioner said that one they are going to reject it completely. That one we don’t have it and the other parties too don’t have it because that doesn’t have carbon copies.
“He is doing propaganda because already, the 370 have been collated, they know the results and we are leading them over 2000 votes so if they add the 3, we would have even beaten them more votes,” he explained.
