Ghana and Kenya are seeking to enhance trade between the two nations through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

This follows a courtesy call on the President of Kenya, William Ruto, by Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, in Kenya over the weekend.

In a post made by President Ruto after the visit, he said “Kenya will enhance her relations with Ghana to include more sectors in trade and investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, oil and gas.”

According to him, the partnership will broaden opportunities for the people of the two countries and ensure a shared prosperity amongst them.

Ruto explained that his meeting with Mahama “discussed the expansion of intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area”, for the benefit of the two nation’s and their citizens.

The Kenyan President also expressed gratitude to Mahama for “declaring his support for Hon Raila Odinga‘s African Union Commission chairperson candidature” and assured of attending his swearing-in Accra next month.

The meeting between the two were joined by Raila Odinga, Kilgoris in Narok County.
