A group of irate National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth at Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency of the Ashanti region, have vandalized the party’s office in protest over the recent parliamentary election results.
The angry youth reportedly set fire to several party properties, including a television set, motorbikes and chairs, as well as other valuables at the office.
Their actions, they claim, stem from their dissatisfaction with the way the party leadership is handling the parliamentary election outcome.
According to the aggrieved youth, the NDC parliamentary candidate, Abubakar Sadick, rightfully won the parliamentary election. But they allege that their party leadership ranging from constituency to national, have conspired to hand over the seat to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate.
In a heated demonstration, the youth issued threats against party executives, warning that they would physically attack any national, regional, or constituency official who visits the area.
They further cautioned the constituency executives to stay away from Mankranso or risk being set on fire.
The situation has created tension within the NDC in the constituency. Meanwhile, the party leadership is yet to officially comment on the matter.
