Ghana’s 2024 electioneering campaign, like several others, contained several incidents that will linger of the minds of many.

Aside from the usual political jabs and upheavals that characterised the process, key figures from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly the flag bearer, his running mate and then sitting President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and William Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, respectively, all had several slips of the tongue during the campaign.

Notably amongst the incidents was when the running mate to the flag bearer, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, raised the hand of a parliamentary candidate and asked the gathering to vote for him and President Mahama, instead of Dr. Bawumia.

The former Energy Minister was famously captured for saying “Lomotey nie! John Mahama nie!

” as he urged the people to vote for Lomotey, who was the NPP candidate and John Mahama.

The former President, also at a function, listing the achievements of his administration with Bawumia, named John Dramani Mahama instead.

Whilst many have been wondering how key members in government then were endorsing the opposition at the time, founder of the Heaven’s Gate Chapel, Prophet Nicholas Osei, also known as ‘Kumchacha’, has said he was behind it.

According to him, he worked spiritually for them to endorse Mahama to return power to him.

Kumchacha, speaking on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, with Sir John Thursday, January 09, 2025, disclosed that every single slip of the tongue by any NPP stalwart during the December campaign was his cause.

Speaking in Twi, he said “Did you realise when the NPP people were campaigning they were mentioning Mahama instead of Bawumia? I was behind it. NAPO did it, Nana Addo did it and even Bawumia himself.”

He continued that “I did some spiritual work to make that happen. Elections are more spiritual than you think.”

“Two weeks to the elections, I did a press conference in my house with about 40 media houses and I told them I did all those spiritual work for them to have the slip of the tongues to give power back to Mahama,” he stated.

He, however, urged President Mahama to implement the 24-hour economy promise to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

“Mahama should fulfill his 24 hour economy to provide jobs for the youth,” he stated.
