Bibiani Gold Stars SC are back at the top of the Ghana Premier League following a 3-0 away win over Accra Lions on Sunday, January 19.

A hat trick by Samuel Attah Kumi in the game, played at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in the Volta Region, ensured that the Miners walked away with all three points.

Their position was made easy by the 1-0 home defeat of Heart of Lions on the final day of the first round of matches.

The Kpando-based side had gone several matches without a loss at home, having won all eight matches thus far.

But Nations FC’s Djangone Di Boris scored less than 10 minutes to the end of the game to secure all three points for his side.

The results see Heart of Lions’ drop to fourth on the log, behind Gold Stars, Nations FC and Asante Kotoko in that order.

The second round will begin in earnest next week.
