The Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have condemned in no uncertain terms, an allegation being peddled against its Chairman.

The executives say a newspaper publication about its Chairman campaigning against the party’s parliamentary candidate in the 2024 elections is nothing but an attempt “to create unnecessary tension and to disintegrate the unity in the party.”

In a statement issued by the executives and signed by its Spokesperson and General Secretary Tuesday, January 21, 2025, it says the said newspaper has published that the constituency Chairman campaigned ‘skirt and blouse’ prior to the elections, asking the constituents to vote for President Mahama and the NPP parliamentary candidate.

But according to the constituency leadership, the allegations are a ploy by certain elements within the party to take the wife of the Chairman out of the list of the potential nominees for the MCE.

Augustina Ama Tabua Kwofie, the Chairman’s wife, according to the statement, performed outstandingly at the vetting of the MCE aspirants and stands a higher chance of being chosen amongst the final three persons to be submitted to Accra.

However, because she contested the Member of Parliament during the party’s primaries, they want her out of the race, and has therefore levelled what they describe as “baseless accusations” against her husband to create disaffection for her.

The constituency executives have, therefore, denied the claims vehemently, saying “we as constituency executives take great exception to this publication and we condemn it in no certain terms.”

They “therefore call on the party hierarchy to ignore such publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves” and has further urged “the vetting and appointment committee to be fair and firm without harkening unto the content of the publication.”
