The Takoradi Market Circle District Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Catherine Obiade, has sentenced a 40-year-old man, Abdulrhaman, to six months imprisonment for stealing iron rods from the stalled Takoradi PTC Interchange construction site.

The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing, appealed to the court for leniency, citing a medical condition- hernia.

However, the learned judge handed down the sentence and directed him to assist the police in identifying six accomplices who are currently on the run.

Prosecutors revealed that theft of materials at the construction site had become rampant, prompting a community watchdog team to heighten their surveillance.

During one of their night patrols, they caught Abdulrhaman and six others in the act.

While the accomplices managed to flee, luck eluded Abdul Rhaman and was apprehended by the team.

As part of her ruling, Her Ladyship Catherine Obiade instructed Abdul Rhaman to cooperate fully with police investigations by providing details about the whereabouts of the remaining suspects who have absconded.
