Former Attorney General (A-G) and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has described as “unfounded and highly disingenuous”, the ethical misconduct allegations being leveled against him by the current A-G.

Dr. Ayine has said Dame’s handling of the trial which involved the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, in the procurement of 200 ambulances in the erstwhile Mahama administration was shrouded in ethical misconduct.

The matter became controversial in the lead up to the 2024 general elections when it emerged that Mr. Dame, then A-G, engaged one of the victims, Richard Jakpa, to implicate Dr. Forson, who was then Minority Leader and former Deputy Minister of Finance.

Addressing the media Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, accused Dame of ethical misconduct in the matter.

But Dame, in a rebuttal Friday, February 14, 2025, rejected the allegations by his successor.

He indicated that he did not engage in unprofessionalism as he is being accused of but rather discharged his duties with high sense of integrity and professionalism.

The case had been a subject of intense legal and political debate, with the prosecution alleging financial mismanagement and irregularities in the awarding of the contract.

Dame is contending that the A-G, Dr. Ayine, is rather engaging in irony of accusations since he is the one with pending cases of professional misconduct at the General Legal Council.

“Dr. Ayine’s unfounded allegations insinuating unethical conduct on my part in the ambulance case is highly disingenuous and rather unfortunately, recaps the series of falsehoods peddled by foot soldiers of the NDC and other uninformed members of society.

“I must say that I find it quite ironical for Dr. Ayine who is a subject of disciplinary proceedings for professional misconduct still pending at the General Legal Council to accuse me of unethical conduct,” he asserted.
