The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has chastised President Mahama for his maiden State of the Nation Address (SoNA) presented in Parliament on Thursday.

After the February 27, 2025 address by the President, the Minority Leader, during his preliminary remarks to support the Majority Leader’s move for the House to be adjourned, he accused President Mahama of coming to the House to make lamentations as usual.

The Effutu lawmaker, also criticised the President for appointing lesser ministers as he promised but many presidential staffers which he says balls down to the same thing.

“Mr. Speaker, the President again says that he has delivered less ministers. But his strategy is ‘if less, more divide’. You have appointed few ministers but more presidential staffers.

“The President again came to this House with a familiar story, the usual lamentations,” he indicated.

Also, Afenyo-Markin noted that the President presented his message as if he is ushering the nation into a new beginning, urging him to solve any issues he sees as a bother.

“He packaged it in a language as though we have a new beginning. Mr. Speaker, if the President has any concerns, his duty is to fix it,” he added.
