The Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo on 28th February 2025 launched Regional Sanitation Day in Madina, Accra.
The initiative is to help keep the city clean.
In an exclusive interview with Onua News’s Akua Sarpomaa, the Minister stated that “is the aim of President John Dramani Mahama to keep the entire nation clean and it is our duty as citizens to help him achieve it”.
Madam Ocloo said “President John Dramani Mahama will soon launch the National Sanitation Day and I’m pleading with everyone to comply with the measures the President will put in place”.
She blamed the current cholera outbreak to poor sanitation in the city.
“Have you heard about the Cholera outbreak in the country? The dirt we’re seeing here caused it, do you want to be sick and use the money you’ve made through whatever businesses you are doing here to fight sickness? She quizzed.
The Minister also urged the people in Madina not to make the exercise a one day wonder, “please don’t let this end today but see to it that youl clean your frontage everyday”.
According to her, “we are here today because today is the launch, from next month every electoral area will do it”.
She pleaded on the traders who are selling on the street “should all go inside the market, the market is spacious and it can contain all of you on the roadside.
