The Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Cosmos Alan Anyan, has inspected an ongoing police station project at Kofikrom, located in the Juaboso district of the Western North region.
The Kofikrom community initiated the construction of the police station to enhance security and prevent crime in the area.
Currently, the building is at its secondary stage, and the Regional Commander visited the site to assess progress and provide necessary recommendations.
During his visit, DCOP Anyan emphasized that it is not the responsibility of the police to construct police stations. Rather, such projects are undertaken by either the government or local communities, while the police service provides personnel to work in the completed facility.
He assured the community and traditional leaders (Nananom) that once the building is completed, the police command will deploy officers to the station to ensure security at Kofikrom.
The Chief of Sefwi Kofikrom, Nana Kwasi Aduhene II, stated that the project was initiated by Nana Nokwarebour, his uncle, the former chief, to improve security in the community.
He explained that Kofikrom has numerous businesses and activities that require adequate police protection, which is why the community is determined to complete the station.
He revealed that the two-story building will have ten rooms upon completion and assured that the project will be finished by July this year.
Nana Kwasi Aduhene II also confirmed that the Regional Commander has assured him of deploying police personnel once the building is ready.
