The President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhen of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V has stated that the United Nations and Africa can work if they work with the principles of the Rotary Club.

Rotary International District 9104 is currently holding its Second Annual District Conference in Takoradi with Rotarians all across the country gathered at the Planters by Eagles Hotel in Takoradi.

In his speech as the guest speaker, Nana Kobina Nketsia the fifth lauded the Rotary Club for its humanitarian efforts whilst emphasizing on its remarkable principles. The Four-Way Test, is a guiding principle of Rotary International. It asks:

1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

These principles aim to promote ethical decision-making and foster positive relationships within Rotary and beyond. Nana Kobina Nketsia V expressed great appreciation for these principles.

“We (Rotarians) are not politicians, but Africa needs Rotarians. I realize that this club pulsates with service to others in all walks of life with the self-assessment of truth, fairness, goodwill and friendship.

Perhaps the United Nations would work if they pick up the ideals of Rotary Club. Africa would unite with the Rotarians”, he said.

The District Council Chair, Victor Yaw Asante, who also heads FirstBank expressed the bank’s pride in associating with Rotary club as they share in the same belief of impacting on communities. He was optimistic that they will collaborate to do more.

“My expectation is that we will come out more renewed to do more. Do more magic and make sure they solve community problems “, he said.

Reflecting on a year defined by the theme “The Magic of Rotary,” the District Governor, Florence Maame Hagan celebrated the collective achievements of the district while challenging the members to sustain the momentum.

“It has been an honour to serve as the District Governor, and to have had the opportunity to advance our efforts towards the greater good. We have spent the last year emphasising our theme ‘The Magic of Rotary,’ through our various projects and campaigns.”

She however reminded them that magic does not happen on its own. “There’s no magic without our efforts. It is in what we do, in the lives we touch and the change we create, that real transformation happens. The Magic is in the Impact we make and that should be our continuous Call to Action’ she declared.

Rotary District 9104 is part of a global network of Rotary clubs dedicated to humanitarian service, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. Established in 2023 following its separation from District 9102; District 9104 now comprises 71 Rotary Clubs, 57 Rotaract Clubs, and several Interact Clubs, representing a vibrant community of over 3,000 Rotarians.

The district focuses on key areas including education, environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, disease prevention, water and sanitation, and maternal and child health.
