Ghana’s Black Satellites have been held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their opening Group C game at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

The Congolese opened the score in the 15th minute when captain Samuel Ntanda-Lukisa jumped highest to beat goalkeeper Gidios Aseako with a thumping header.

Barely 10 minutes later, Musibau Aziz connected to a cross from Emmanuel Mensah as the Ghanaians launched an attack from the left side of their frontline.

The equaliser for Ghana put the score at 1-1 into the break.

Both teams failed to convert the chances that came their way, keeping the score one all at full time.

The result comes in the wake of another 1-1 draw between Senegal and Central African Republic (CAR).

This throws Group C wide open with the Black Satellites facing the defending champions on Monday in their next encounter.

DR Congo will also play Central African Republic in the other group game same day.
