The Africa Institute on Governance and Security has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for launching the Code of Conduct for public officers.
The Institute says the initiative will go a long way to guide government officials and bring sanity into the public service by inculcating into duty bearers, a sense of ethical leadership and accountability.
In a statement issued by the Institute Monday, May 5, 2025, and signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, who was Government’s spokesperson on Governance and Security under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration said “this visionary initiative underscores Ghana’s commitment to fostering transparency, integrity, and good governance, which are critical pillars for sustainable development and public trust.”
According to the statement, with the implementation of the Code, President Mahama would have paved the way for resilient governance structures that would ensure professionalism in the discharge of duties at the public service.
It further expressed its belief in the Code impacting public service beyond Ghana to other parts of the continent for transparent governance systems.
The Code of Conduct, launched by President Mahama on Monday, May 5, 2025, prohibits public officials from accepting gifts and purchasing state assets, among other guidelines meant to guide how public officials should behave.
