President John Dramani Mahama has listed the National Cathedral as part of the inquiries and forensic audits his administration is undertaking as part of its approach to curbing corruption.
He says all persons that would be found culpable in relation to the matter would be made to face the full rigors of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
The President, during his address to the nation on his first 120 days of social contract with Ghanaians on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, explained that fighting corruption and eliminating waste is “a cornerstone of our commitment to good governance and accountability.”
He noted that the fight will not be peculiar to members who served in the previous administration but also, those in his government.
Mahama listed several cases the government has initiated investigation into, reemphasising his outfit’s commitment to curbing the canker.
“Deloitte & Touche is conducting an independent audit of the National Cathedral,” he stated, adding that he expects to be furnished with the report by the end of May.
He also spoke on the 13th African Games hosted in Ghana, disclosing that “a number of officials have been invited and questioned.”
The President also shed light on the ongoing investigations regarding the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene.
“Charges will also be filed on the Accra Sky Train and the National Service ghost names scandals,” he added, assuring the citizenry of his government’s efforts on helping curb the corruption canker.
“The Office of the Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption will continue to receive complaints and reports regarding graft for onward transmission to the Attorney-General, building on the success of the ORAL mechanism, which received over two thousand complaints in just a few weeks,” he added.
