The Madina-Adenta-Abokobi GNAT District has held its 3rd Quadrennial (54th) District Delegates Conference under the theme ‘GES @ 50, Reflecting on the Past, Inspiring the Future; GNAT as a Catalyst’.

The event which was held at Adenta on Thursday, May 22, 2025 brought together delegates from the various basic and secondary schools within the GNAT district to deliberate on the association and also elect new executives to spearhead the affairs of the MAA District branch of GNAT.

Guest speaker for the delegates conference, Mrs. Philipa Larsen who is a former national president of GNAT underscored the significant role the teachers association has played in the success and development of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

“After 50 years of the establishment of the GES, I urge the GES and GNAT to collaborate on ensuring the welfare and well-being of teachers” she urged.

The incumbent Chairman who was re-elected unopposed, Christian Yaw Adinkra used the occasion to entreat GES and all stakeholders to empower teachers to enable them to ensure discipline and academic excellence in schools.

The newly elected executives are as follows:

  •  Chairman- Christian Yaw Adinkra-West Africa Senior High School
  •  Vice Chairman- Rev Peter Nambu Ngalah – LaNMEO
  •  Treasurer – Micheal Zormelo – Fafraha Senior High School
  •  Trustee – John Yaw Atiwoto- Icodehs Basic Adenta
  • SHS Rep – David Cecil Ntow from Kwabenya Senior High School
  • Basic School Rep- Eric Adzanu from Amrahia Basic School
  • Youth Coordinator- Felix Malo from Pantang Presby Basic 1 School
  •  GNAT- LAS Coordinator- Grace Dedaa Agyepong- From Haatso Calvary Presby Basic School
  • Educational Administration Rep- Alhassan Amadu- from LaNMEO

Special Guest, the Madina Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dr. Sarah Aba-Afari, admonished the teachers to desist from aiding students to engage in exams malpractice because it undermines their confidence and teaches them to be corrupt.

“Some of our teachers in the bid to see our students excel in examination go the length of aiding them to indulge in malpractice. It is wrong and you should know that it is unlawful and you might be caught the next time. It will be a disgrace to you and the profession” she cautioned whilst assuring them of the support of the police.
