It was a gory and heart wrenching scene to behold at Tanokrom, a surburb of Takoradi, when a man believed to be in his early 40s was killed under a very horrific circumstances around 10:20am on June 6.
It all happened when a trailer loaded with Timber heading Towards Fijai from the Tanokrom direction lost control and rammed into a ‘Trotro loaded with passengers from Takoradi to Kojokrom.
According to the Trotro Driver who gave his name as Nkansah Kyerematen, with few meters to the main Tanokrom Pipeano Traffic light, he realised the haulage truck was reversing towards the direction of the Trotro, so in an attempt to swerve, his Trotro hit another car which was behind him and suddenly the truck also hit the Trotro.
‘All the passengers in my vehicle started running away after the door was forcefully removed by my mate. It was later that eyewitnesses prompted me that, one of the passengers in my vehicle, in an attempt to escape through the door, has been ran over by the trailer and has been killed’ The driver mournfully concluded.
Upon reaching the scene and assessing the situation, Connect FM’s Paa Kwesi Simpson quickly called the Fire Service who came to tow the haulage truck and the deceased was retrieved.
The deceased has been identified by relatives as Mr Bonnah, an Asankragwa-based businessman who has completed his House at Apowa and moved in the day before with his newly married wife and their two months old baby.
According to the relatives, he was going to Kojokrom to purchase tiles to furnish his new residence when he met his tragic death.
The body has since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital Morgue by personnel from the Sekondi /Takoradi MTTD.
