Alajor Seidu, the Member of Parliament for Chereponi, has expressed deep concern over the underdevelopment of the Chereponi District, blaming the previous administration for its ongoing struggles.
Chereponi District, in the North East Region of Ghana shares its border with Togo, a situation that once fostered vibrant trade. However, the district is now grappling with significant challenges, particularly in infrastructure and economic development.
The poor condition of roads has become a major obstacle, forcing residents to transport their goods to Togo for trade instead of utilizing local markets in Ghana. This reliance on cross-border commerce underscores the urgent need for enhanced infrastructure to unlock the district’s potential.
In a recent address, MP Alajor Seidu lamented the state of Chereponi, attributing its underdevelopment to the negligence of the previous administration, led by the NPP.
He voiced his frustrations, noting that the people of Chereponi have been deprived of essential services and development opportunities. “Not even a single road is motorable for my people,” he emphasized, highlighting the dire circumstances that residents endure daily.
The Member of Parliament also pointed to ongoing disputes within the area that have further complicated the quest for peace and development. Despite these hardships, he urged the citizens of Chereponi to place their trust in President John Dramani Mahama, believing that his leadership could bring about the necessary changes.
“The past administration failed us, but I want the people of Chereponi to know that there is hope, and the hope is John Dramani Mahama,” he stated, encouraging unity and belief in a better future.
The call for urgent development and resources is more pressing than ever for Chereponi. The district, with its geographic advantages and the potential for growth, deserves immediate attention and investment to foster a thriving community.
