A newly constructed police station in Enchi Kwahu, located in the Aowin municipality of the Western North region, has been officially commissioned by the Western North Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi.

The facility was built and donated by the chief of Enchi Kwahu, Nana Tano Kabaah II, as part of his commitment to enhancing security and development in the area.

During the commissioning ceremony, the Regional Commander emphasized that the role of the police is to protect the community and maintain peace, not to intimidate residents. He encouraged the people of Enchi Kwahu to collaborate with the police by providing timely information to help curb criminal activities.

Dr. Tsidi assured the chief and the community that the facility would be properly maintained to serve generations to come. He also pledged to closely monitor police personnel stationed at the facility to ensure professionalism. He further stated that the police service would support local youth who meet the requirements during future recruitment exercises.

Nana Tano Kabaah II, who personally financed the construction of the police station, stated that his decision to build the facility was driven by his vision to attract investors to the community.

He noted that security is a key factor for development and that without it, no meaningful investments would come to the area. Despite initial resistance from some community members, he pursued the project, recognizing its long-term benefits.

He called on the police to take proper care of the facility, adding that he would be disappointed to see it fall into a state of disrepair. Nana also appealed to the Inspector General of Police to consider qualified youth from his community during police recruitment exercises.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Aowin, Stephen Morcher, commended the chief for using his personal resources to support national security efforts. He described the gesture as a sign of true leadership and a commitment to peace. He urged the community to see the police as allies and to provide them with vital information to help maintain law and order.

The Western North Regional Minister, Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, also lauded the initiative and said the station would help reduce crime in Enchi Kwahu and its surrounding communities. He acknowledged the difficulties residents face due to the poor state of the Enchi–Elubo road and assured them that the project has been added to the government’s Big Push Agenda for urgent attention.

To support the newly opened station, the Regional Minister donated two air-conditioners to help improve the working conditions of the officers.

The commissioning of the Enchi Kwahu Police Station marks a significant step toward strengthening security and fostering development in the Aowin Municipality.
